Had a belated Father’s Day dinner last night. Thankful for these two! It’s a joy and privilege to be their dad.

A tribute to God’s grace.
Yesterday was one of those bittersweet moments (cliche I know) as we officially sold the first home we ever owned.
Over 16 years in one spot.
So many memories. But more than that, so much GRACE. God really used that little house.
It’s where our family began as we brought home our girls from the hospital. It’s from that house that our girls walked each day to Brookshire Elementary - now they’re both in middle school.
It’s where our church plant began as we gathered for a Bible study. It eventually housed all of our church equipment in the hall storage closet as we began building a core group on Sunday nights. The same hall closet that was Mackinley’s bedroom the first year of her life (don’t judge - it was a 2 bedroom 1 bath house at the time). We’ve lived through multiple construction projects, some more involved than others. Survived a couple hurricanes with no damage to the wall of glass! We’ve had hundreds of people in and out of that house as we hosted community groups, neighborhood gatherings, Meet CrossPointe lunches, etc.
We loved there. We fought there. Repented there. Grieved there. Rejoiced there. Grew in the gospel there.
That little house became a well loved fixture in our lives (“became” is a key word here, because Heather cried the day we bought it. Between tears she exclaimed “It’s just so ugly.”) And now 16 some years later, we stood in the backyard one last time and again there were tears. Tears of gratitude this time for all that God did in and through that house.
Farewell Fitzwalter. You served us well.
